SPLC–they literally funded what they purported to hate

If hate doesn’t exist, fund it. So many groups today are doing it, but finally one may pay for it. The Southern Poverty Law Center just got indicted for money laundering, etc.

They literally paid neo-Nazis, KKK members, and their ilk to get out there are do their thing so that the SPLC could point to them as examples of the far-right extremism that is anyone to the right of Karl Marx.

The DOJ says the SPLC, a far-left legal group that has spent the last decade warning America that fascism and racism is on the rise, paid fascists and racists to help them convince the public that the threat was real!

So they created their own ‘raison d’etre’. And defrauded their donors in the process.

According to the indictment, the objective of the scheme and artifice was to obtain money via donations through materially false representations and omissions about what the donated funds would be used for.

In order to covertly pay the individuals, the SPLC opened bank accounts connected to a series of fictitious entities. The covert nature of the accounts allowed the SPLC to disguise the true nature, source, ownership, and control of the fraudulently obtained donated money the SPLC paid the individuals. In order to keep the scheme going, the SPLC made a series of false statements related to the operation of the accounts.

Other groups have had to expand their mission, like the National Organization for Women and the American Teachers Federation brought the alphabet mafia into the fold just to try to maintain their salaries. So just paying folks is a new play.

Considering the fact that the SPLC was lying to their donors, I hope they all get sued as well.

Check out Aaron’s commentary as well.

  1. Yah, SPLC was great for a talking point for any member of Congress trying to sell something, i.e., hate speech, etc.

    Birds of a feather:
Google has, I’m sure, scrubbed the records by this point, but the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a defacto communist organization.

The ACLU often seems like they’re on the same side when it comes to arguing against government overreach, i.e., The Patriot Act, et. al., but they only represent a side if it advances communism.

For example, the ACLU and then Governor Manchin gave a speech at a university here in West Virginia, insinuating, if you didn’t vote for Obama, you were a racist.

May dogs piss on their graves.

  2. SPLC once had a noble mission.

But like nearly every Leftist organization, they lost their way and became an entity aimed at continuing to fund itself, not their mission ….And their focus changed from the original aim: to help poor people who needed legal representation to something else…funding jobs for Liberals

  3. From New York Magazine (hardly a far-right source)

    https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/the-free-speech-war-inside-the-aclu.html

    The ACLU:

…over the past ten years, Donald Trump and other right-wing provocateurs have co-opted free-speech values to advance an agenda often at odds with liberalism and social justice (see Elon Musk’s X), while Democrats, progressives, and, arguably, the ACLU have retreated from the ideal that free speech needs to be protected regardless of the viewpoint being expressed.”

  4. They took the page out of the communist play book that say’s quietly do what you’re accusing others of doing.

I always thought SPLC was a bunch of snakes. Now we have proof and don’t give me any of this innocent until proven guilty crap.

The left’s dominoes are starting to fall. Slowly at first then it will be all at once.

I’m just waiting to witness ILhan Omar ridden out of the country on a rail.

The founders erred when limiting the President to being born here, not that we don’t have a bunch of native born criminals in both houses.

Senator Kennedy was correct when he said that most elected members of the government should be making license plates.

The very brilliant Thomas Sowell summed it up nicely when he said if it wasn’t for the race hustlers there wouldn’t be as much racism. Most people just want to live their lives – the race hustlers need to keep it alive to thrive!

  6. Back in the day, 1995 to be precise, I was working at a place that got the SPLC newsletter, a very slick, professionally published little magazine.

According to the SPLC, the very picture of an evil domestic terrorist racist was:

    White
    Male
    Conservative
    Christian
    Knew the Constitution

    Bonus points for:
    Owning a pickup or van
Owning or wanting to own property
Wanting some control over school curriculum
Owning (or wanting to own) guns

Funny, even then, the actual domestic terrorist tended to be a far left nutjob.

They never were a real organization. They always have been more concerned about money input than actual anti-hate output.

Let us hope the good folk of Alabama who will be on the trial choose wisely when they are on the jury.

I’d prefer they were hung in the public square.

  9. Sometimes the truth DOES make an appearance. Too bad that the people who think that they are a legitimate, respectable, principled organization likely won’t be paying attention. Some folks will not allow facts to confound their leftist ideology.

Suddenly the SPLC is running a tide wave of ad’s.
The ads are trying to sell the idea, they are still fighting Racism and the attacks on the SPLC are by the racists they are fighting.

    1. wv–Yeah, the ACLU decided a while ago that only ‘progressive’ thoughts counted as a civil liberty. And Congress did/does lean heavily on the SPLC to create their ‘proof’ so they can remove our rights.

B–Agreed. But when their mission shifted, they did it so slowly that it took a while for anyone to notice. They worked for decades under their former reputation.

Lokki–And when the libs lose the NY Times…

Nemo–I’d take it further than being born here. You have to have lived here from birth to adulthood. Otherwise you don’t understand the culture.

      Bennie–Wise man.

Beans–As B pointed out, they were a good organization back in the day (like three decades ago), but they changed.

      NFO–Me too.

Frank–Agree on both…. The second after a fair trial, of course.

      TRoy–Yeah, it’s those pesky facts.

Nobody–It worked for them before. Of course they’d use the same playbook.

      1. Yes, the ACLU lost all credibility with me whey they developed a bad case of Second Amendment Blindness.

Can you help me with my profile? I’m not sure how my full name has ended up being displayed, but if you can change it to just Frank I would appreciate it.
