      Amen, brother. I spent over 5 years in Greece during my lost yuteful daze in the USAF, and there were months that went by that we closed down the bars, no matter what shift we were working. (Many nights/mornings, we’d hit the local “soup kitchen”* and keep drinking, after the bars shut down, until the sun came up, then take a taxi to either our apartments or the beach.)

      *- “Soup kitchens” could stay open 24/7 because they were performing “a public service,” even though they served alcohol.

   a lot of the time I still think sending food and money over to Africa was a huge mistake. one thin I seen over there is when they get food, get start making babies right after eating.
   making more starving kids or people. I think it was in the late 1960’s I started seeing all of those coin boxes for feeding the kids bullshit. anyway, warlords get ahold of the food and use it as a weapon against their own. seen that a few times while I was over there. we are pissing money away sending ANY aid over there. funny thing, back in the 1990’s South Africa did the first ever heart transplant and now they can not even keep the lights on for more than 6 hours per day.
   worked with a couple fof doctors from there, they told me about living in a walled compound and needing guards
   and this was back in 93

   I’m so old I used Merthiolate as First Aid at the Swimming Poole. That stuff burned like crazy and you always heard “Blow on it”!
   We also used Baby Oil and IODINE for suntan lotion! I can still close my eyes and remember the aroma! You’d get a golden color! Lordy, the girls looked and smelled so good!
