B mentioned the story as well as others. Supposedly a 10 year old rape victim was just hours past the deadline that the state of Ohio put into place to receive an abortion and had to go to Indiana.
Turns out that the story is as fake as Jesse Smollett’s assault or anything that’s coming out of the January 6 ‘We hate Trump’ committee.
It looks like the story originated in the Indy Star from a single source who is a known abortion advocate. The Indy Star probably didn’t bother fact checking because the story met their meme.
Peter Heck, who writes for Not the Bee, and who used to write for the Indianapolis Star digs a little deeper and has some pretty telling insight.
“We have regular contact with prosecutors and local police and sheriff’s. Not a whisper anywhere. Something maybe even more telling, Jesse, my office runs the state crime lab. Any case like this, you’re going to have a rape kit, you’re going to have biological evidence,” Yost told Fox News host Jesse Watters. “There is no case request for analysis that looks anything like this.”
As Peter Heck says in his article:
But suppose there is tragic merit to the story, and consequently this innocent 10-year-old girl is being used as a mere weapon in a larger war by forces who care little to nothing about her actual well-being. For all the talk about the need for “reproductive justice,” this girl deserves criminal justice, and reporters, newspapers, and activists alike should be unwilling to rest until she gets it.
As they say, lies circle the world before the truth takes a single step. And now this lie is reaching urban legend status. And a lack of criminal justice is very telling.
