It’s lovely to see the press in a quandary

Some dude, who turns out to be a socialist Asian decided to burn a cross in Grant Park in Chicago to protest the conviction of Karmelo Anthony. Oh and he’s gay too.

So the press absolutely has no idea how to report this. He doesn’t hit the right hue on the color wheel for completely sweeping it under the rug but he hits all of the other marks for letting the story die: socialist, gay, and not-white.

But… burning cross. So the usual race baiters crawled out from under their rocks to show their displeasure. But it was pretty half-assed because the guy wasn’t a white redneck.

Father Phleger, that stain on the priesthood, totally bought into it, stepping on his dick in the process:

The Rev. Michael Pfleger of Saint Sabina — a Catholic priest known for his far-left and radical views — offered a $10,000 reward during the search. “This was so premeditated. You made this cross somewhere. You carried it, you got it downtown. You put it in one of the most visible spots in Chicago, and then you set it afire,” Pfleger told ABC7 Chicago.

Apparently the curriculum in both Naperville schools (where the perp grew up) and the University of Illinois-Chicago are lacking because he really didn’t understand the level of meaning behind the burning cross symbol:

Lu denied any bigotry, saying he meant to protest the Trump administration “ruling class” and Christian nationalists who back the president. “I did know about this historical relevance beforehand, but I didn’t know the severity, how racially motivated it may seem from what I did,” Lu told NBC 5. “Cause my protest has nothing to do with race, nothing to do with gender.”

There is speculation online about who would have pushed or paid him into doing this… (cough, cough, SPLC… cough), or maybe he’s just an idiot.

The press, when confused, tend to go the other way and will probably try to turn him into some warrior for truth or something since he didn’t fit their cross-burning mold.
