Finding the limitations on pardons

Hunter Biden is getting a bit of FAFO for his past misdeeds. Not near what a person not protected by a Presidential pardon would get (remember it’s the only pardon hand signed by Biden) but something…

In addition to being disbarred in Washington D.C., he has now also been disbarred in Connecticut.

In Connecticut, the judge found that Hunter Biden violated several ethical rules for lawyers, including engaging in conduct “involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation.” Hunter Biden admitted in a court document to some but not all of the misconduct allegations. The judge also cited the disbarment in Washington, D.C.

One of the two people, Paul Dorsey, who filed the complaints about Hunter Biden, told the judge on Monday that he objected to the agreement because the former president’s son did not admit to committing crimes. However, Leanne Larson, an attorney with the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel, cited the pardon for the lack of admission.

So apparently a pardon keeps a person like Hunter Biden from admitting to crimes, but it shouldn’t matter as long as they are federal in nature. I think that a Presidential pardon only can be applied to federal crimes.

  1. I’m not sure what impact disbarment actually has beyond symbolic. Maybe I have a limited imagination, but I couldn’t picture Hunter actually representing a client. His value was access to the president. With that gone, he isn’t worth much.

  2. Can you imagine being represented by this reprobate? Not likely it will impact him at all. I have serious doubts about him working for any legitimate law firm.

  3. Correct, POTUS can only pardon Federal crimes. You have to get pardons for State crimes from the respective governor.

Well, he always has his art to fall back on. /sarc/

Hunter could pass the bar in CA. I am sure Nancy’s nephew would okay it. Then he could go to work for the law firm defending the Reiner’s killer. Just saying.

  5. Somebody needs to introduce Hunter to Morbark. That way we can finally be rid of this pustule on humanity’s ass.

Hunter Bribem and Nick Reiner two men raised in privilege, given every opportunity in life and ended up being drug addicted worthless pieces of chit.

  6. Speaking of pardons, IDK whether to laugh or just shake my head about Trump pardoning Juan Orlando Hernandez….

Trump said in a social media post that he was issuing the pardon because “people that I greatly respect” told him Hernandez was “treated very harshly and unfairly.”

Sounds like a case of “Grant me a pardon, or I start naming names” and I bet a couple of alphabet agencies immediately took notice.
