The hypocrisy of Harvard

Harvard is crying crocodile tears because their ability to admit foreign students has been put on hold. They are screaming about 1st Amendment rights, but I don’t think there’s anything in there about bringing foreign students in that pay top dollar (and are also the right color to meet Harvard’s continuing ‘diversity’ goals).

Harvard says that foreign students now make up a quarter of their student body.

Of course a judge stepped in (again) to put a stay on the government’s action. As a note on the judge (who is surprisingly enough NOT a Harvard grad but did grow up in Boston):

Burroughs also presided over a July 2020 lawsuit filed by Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that sought to halt an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policy that required international students in the United States on F-1 visas to depart the country if they would not be attending in-person classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Judge Burroughs announced that the Trump administration had agreed to reverse the policy during a July 14, 2020, hearing in her Boston courtroom.[11]

But all of this has a very simple answer–all Harvard has to do is submit legally required documents on the students they are bringing into the country using the F1 visas, quit allowing their Jewish students to be bullied (why would any Jewish family give Harvard their money at this point?), quit discriminating against Whites and Asians, and basically just not be assholes.

That’s all.

  1. If we relied on merit for decision-making in the United States, oh what a different place this would be. Those entrusted with our tax dollars would use a lot less of them. Unfortunately, merit means something different to our Leftist friends than it does to the rest of us. Throwing money at a problem can always be an easy answer when it is someone else’s, and you hold the power to (legally) take it.

  3. It’s one of the dirty secrets of most universities these days. Foreign students pay full freight and populate most graduate departments so they can keep their numbers up and draw research dollars. The engineering school I took two degrees from may as well be located in Beijing these days. The classes under those teaching assistants must be wonderful.

  4. It’s funny how it is supposed to be illegal to discriminate against a person’s skin or gender, but as long as the discrimination is going the “right” direction, the legality is over looked.

In the 1980s, my dad lost his position and sent out hundreds of resumes and cover letters to various government institutions. He received more than one reply back that effectively stated: You’re perfect for the job. You don’t happen to be a black lesbian?

My dad came very close to changing our last name to Gonzales in order to avoid the racial discrimination.

  6. T Roy–All very true. To leftists, the best money is other people’s money and they confuse merit with connections and social status.

    T Roy–Ha!

Texas Dan–Not so much a secret nor are the complaints of domestic students who can’t understand either their profs or TA’s.

    Unferth–Funny, not funny.

    Cappy–Ha!

  7. They can’t because there is nobody left there who actually LOOKS at the reality staring them in the face. Various reports say there are less than a dozen (if that many) conservatives total on the faculty. And most if not all of them hide their beliefs.

  9. they used to be a pretty good school. they had some top physics people. my dad invented one extra sharp camera for the U-2 project, but it was used only on special missions. In general the U-2 used a camera developed by a fellow from Harvard. [my dad was from cal tech.] i think Harvard still has a great math person. but other that that, they have produced tons of mediocre stuff

  10. Why is our government giving money we don’t have to an institution that has hundreds of billions of dollars in endowments? Why are we allowing an American institution to educate the children of our enemies?

I guess HHHaaahhhhvvvvaaahhhhddd didn’t think that Trump would retaliate when he told them to stop the persecution of Jewish students and allowing anti American and anti Israel demonstrations on their campus.

The ones that really slay me are the queers for Palestine idiots. They apparently don’t know that when they get off the plane in Gaza they’ll be escorted directly to the nearest tall building, if there are any left, for free flying lessons sans parachute. Absent any tall buildings they’ll be invited to participate in an scientific experiments to determine how big a chuck of concrete it takes to crush their head like a grape.

This type of idiotic behavior is what happens when children aren’t spanked for misbehaving or punched in the mouth for their idiotic behavior when they’re more grown.

  11. Gary–A ‘smart’ school with a law school. They should know better.

avraham–Like a lot of them, they’ve been running on their rep for decades. If you don’t graduate from Harvard with honors, you’re a moron. But since most of their folks (who are not international) are legacies and not the smartest, there’s a lot of morons.

Nemo–The queers for Palestine always got me too. Definitely a disconnect from reality.
