The UN is broke

Yeah, my heart’s bleeding for them too… /s

Since the US isn’t paying $2.7 billion (22% of their total budget–nor should we be paying for this dinosaur) along with other countries who are just slackers, the Secretary General is making such ‘cost cutting’ moves like not repairing escalators, merging agencies, and relocating staff.

For myself, if it closed doors or even just moved out of the US, I’d be a happy camper (preferably the former). UN personnel have done a lot more harm than good around the world–it’s a morally bankrupt institution and a money-suck.

From the article linked above:

If the UN were worth funding, there would be no war in Ukraine; the issues would have been worked out during calm discussion. The whole point of its founding and funding was to prevent disputes from rising to armed combat. It has failed miserably in its mission.

Pretty sure that says it all.

  1. The UN was a post WWII utopian dream designed to make all countries feel as if they mattered. Kinda like the superfriends hall of justice. Everything touched by government inherently sucks a little. Things touched by multiple governments suck A LOT.

  2. THe UN has failed, as did the League of Nations before them.

Anytime an organization becomes staffed only by diplomatic personnel (therefore Liberals) it then has no “teeth” to actually enforce it’s mandates.

The reason they are broke is because they failed as usual, to comprehend that they heeded to cut spending They always had enough money if they screamed loudly enough….either Europe or the US ponied up…But this time Europe needs the money for NATO (Cause Trump has forced their hand) and the US isn’t gonna give ’em any money.

The cuts should have started last year but in typical Liberal and bureaucrat fashion, they waited until too late.

A UN tour was a way for a country’s elite kids to get some (paid) time in the US, but I think that is gonna end.

I’d like to see Brussels pay for a new headquarters….and not in the US.

  3. My first boss had her first job working in IT for the UN, probably back in the early 70s. She said it was a non-stop party, almost no work got done, and you’d expect your (body-part) to be grabbed at least twice a day.

  4. As a New Yorker, I see that the sole purpose of the UN is to confer diplomatic immunity on its ambassadors, consolers and their personnel so that they can rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in parking tickets a year while illegally parking outside their favorite NYC restaurants without paying any parking fines. Either food and the UN completely or move it to The Congo or other such place. And the US should not give them another nickel.

  7. SUGGESTION: Replacing the UN flag with the Jolly Roger Pirate flag would, at a mere glance, clearly define it’s true purpose & honestly depict it’s operational methods to the masses. The UN has the same meaningful impact to the average Joe as a Tampon dispenser in the men’s room.

  8. I always thought they should move it to Jerusalem just so everyone would be offended equally.

+1 to Jimmy. It also gives cover to spies, oops I meant intelligence officers.

  9. So the real question is…..that 2.7 billion dollars we are going to save…..will that money be available to give to us social security pensioners $?.??.?
I mean giving it to the blue helmets probably didn’t help the USA financially.
Giving that money to pensioners , you know darn well it’s going to be spent right back into the economy.

  10. T Roy–Yes. And all of those governments together just causes exponential suckage.

B–True. And yes, it needs to be housed elsewhere.

Unferth–I’m not surprised about either the party or the grab-ass.

Jimmy–They seem to be a drain on NYC resources, thus New York and federal taxpayers and should be kicked to the curb.

Avraham–I agree with you and Jimmy–the UN should be housed in Africa somewhere.

    Matthew–Agreed.

blueray–Much more appropriate! And yes, their impact seems to be mainly negative on regular folks.

Gerry–Ha! That would be awesome. And yes, definitely cover for covert operatives.

    Steve–I like that thought!
