Saturday Meme Drop

  1. Years ago, my oldest made the front page of the small town newspaper. I went the next day to buy 10 copies (nice round number) for aunts, uncles, and grandparents. The paper was 50 cents each (nice round number). The young woman, after hearing my request, grab a calculator, hit a few buttons, frowned, and hit a few more. At this point, I said, “It’s five dollars.” She looked at the calculator, looked at me, and said, “I’ll take your word for it.”

I’m a cruel man. I realize this. I handed her a $10 bill … and she reached for the calculator.

  4. Before the checkout registers at the grocery store calculated the change, I used to do that one every time there was a young person manning the register. 8 of 10 couldn’t come up with the right number in 30 seconds. I did it just to screw with them. That was 30 years ago. I can’t imagine what it would be like now.

  5. There’s a similar one now at the deli counter where some of the items are weighed on a scale. I’ll ask for 1/3 of a pound of onion rings. I either get a blank stare or the person will try to stuff 2-3 pounds of rings into a bag that doesn’t hold more than a pound.

I actually have to tell them what the digital readout on the scale will be.

  6. Amy Coney-Barrett despises Trump. The disgust on her face as she looks at him is obvious.

Patrick, that’s the house from the movie “The Amityville Horror”.

Upon closer inspection, I was wrong. It’s similar, but not the DeMeo house. Mea maxima culpa.

  9. Unferth–Got to get a laugh where you can!

Rich–Had one back in the late 90s and swore never again. The covid shot was also a no-brainer to avoid.

Patrick and TN Budd–It looked like the Amityville house to me too. But any house with those eyes is just plain creepy.

Nemo–Awesome and yes, gotta have fun at the store….
