Because they didn’t get smacked down the first time

Columbia University can reasonably be referred to as a cesspit of budding terrorists. The stupid of the students a year ago was never resolved–the students were never punished for their encampments and their destruction of property.

So now it’s escalated, to no one’s surprise, except maybe Columbia’s administration. For example (from 4-24-24):

Columbia President Minouche Shafik in a statement Tuesday set a midnight deadline to reach an agreement with students to clear the encampment, or “we will have to consider alternative options.” By around 3 a.m., the university said that there was “constructive dialogue” and that it will continue conversations for 48 hours.

The statement said student protesters “will ensure that those not affiliated with Columbia will leave. Only Columbia University students will be participating in the protest.” Student protesters also will comply with city fire department requirements and “have taken steps to make the encampment welcome to all and have prohibited discriminatory or harassing language,” the statement said.

Wow. Frightening. A not-so-stern warning.

They finally arrested a bunch of them after they infiltrated and barricaded themselves into a building on campus, but the charges for most were dropped. So no deterrent there either.

And now they’ve got their very own terror cell on campus. And they dumped cement down toilets and caused thousands of dollars worth of damage (I’m going to say it’s probably a lot higher).

The apparently premeditated nature of the attack suggests Columbia could have impeded it by cracking down on the event’s attendees and its host, Alpha Delta Phi (ADP), a literary society. While the ADP house is controlled by an outside organization and technically off campus—it sits between several other houses and dorms that Columbia owns—Columbia recognizes ADP as a student organization, according to its website, and provides it with services like WiFi, Ph.D. student Alon Levin told the Washington Free Beacon.

It was at that house that some 100 students, led by CUAD, met in November at a two-day event titled, “Hind’s House,” a reference to the name anti-Israel activists applied to Hamilton Hall after its illegal takeover last spring. At the event, which was first reported by the Free Press, attendees commemorated that takeover and discussed anarchical tactics.

Columbia aided and abetted this group by not putting the squish on them when they had a chance. And they knew what was going on at that ‘literary society’ and did nothing. IMO, they are culpable and may have left the university open to a lawsuit. Wonder where the money is coming from to repair the damage these students did? Wonder what’ll happen when they’re caught?

  1. Maybe they’ll wake up when Trump cuts off their .gov gravy train.

    1. Nemo–They’ve got a large endowment to burn through first. Plus some idiots keep sending their kids there.

  2. You are right. Ripping out and replacing pipes in the floors and behind walls is a lot more expensive than “thousands of dollars.” The plumbing fixtures themselves have to be replaced too.

    1. Taffy–Exactly. And it’s going to take the whole building off-line while they do it.
