Welcome to the new blog and Merry Christmas Eve!

Please take the time to let me know what you think. It’s different and I want it to be readable, but different than the previous iteration. As I said at the other place, I’ve been running this site in parallel, so that the content is consistent between the two.

There are some weird fonts and comments on meme drops ended up on the front page, but those are dealable. The process was relatively painless.

There will be some growing pains, but it’s always fun to learn something new!

If you’re NOT on MY sidebar, let me know in the comments. That part was all manual so any leave-outs were not intentional.

    Blue backgrounds tend to be hard on the eye – perhaps consider a different color . Off white, perhaps ? Beige/tan ?

    I would suggest more contrast between the link font color and the background color.

    The blue star next to the like also needs more contrast.

    The backgrounds under both “about me” and “disclaimer” don’t go with the main background. The amount of contrast between the fonts and backgrounds in those areas also isn’t enough.

    Since we’re down to being worried about the color of the drapes, you’ve obviously done a great job with the site. Congratulations.

    Looks good, I don’t mind the colors you have chosen: however, you may get tired of changing the font to white every time you post.

    Congratulations on the move!

    The learning curve is steep, isn’t it?

    I too would like to see a slightly higher level of contrast (old eyes, like the taco place) , but other than that, it looks pretty good.

    Angela–I had thought about that, but it seemed too much like the old blog. I’ve upped the contrast but if folks are still having problems, then I’ll re-think the colors.

    Oracle and Ric–I’ve changed it up a bit. If the dark background and white lettering is throwing you off, let me know and I’ll revisit.

    Unferth–Thanks for the detailed look! Some of the things you’ve mentioned, I’m trying to find (part of the learning curve). I’ll definitely update the About Me and Disclaimer backgrounds. Keep coming with the comments as I work on it!

    Luap57–It’s actually a setting so I can make the white font the default, which is pretty cool. Problem is it has to be done in multiple places if I change the color scheme up.

    Schmoo–I actually had it done in an evening and have been tweaking it for a week or so but finding all the detail places takes time.

    Good on ya. I mostly lurk but have always enjoyed all of your content.

    My take thus far and at the time of observation is that the site has an “intelligent” and “Classy” look to it.

    Boneman–Thanks! I appreciate you coming out of lurk-mode to comment–I”ll consider it to be a Christmas present. From the comments, I’ve updated the background and such so I hope I maintained the intelligent and classy parts!

    I was gonna say the white background and black text look fine, but then I get down to the WHITE comment box and realize what I thought was white is actually gray. Okay, it’s a light enough gray to qualify as white. Stupid white. Ever try to buy white paint? There are like a zillion shades of white. Dag nab it anyhoo.

    Wow. Much better. I really like the curre look.

    I would change the font color on “the recent posts” at the very bottom to create more contrast.

    Oh, and the “Post Comment” button does not look like a link (though it might be a good intelligence test 😉)

    Unferth–Thanks for checking again and for more feedback! I got the ‘recent posts’ to the cyan color, so it shows up a little better. And ya caught me… it was a test and everyone passed!

    But to make it easier for everyone else, it should show up a little better now. Really appreciate the help and have a Merry Christmas!

    Current iteration as of the time I post this looks good. Have this new site bookmarked and ready to go. Will there be an official hard cutover where the old place gets shut down? Seems germane as to wether or not this new one will get the bulk of the views and commenting.

    Looks good to me. My tastes. — I’m in my 80’s — lean towards simple and clean. I know my children call it boring; they’ve told me so.
