The bread and circuses people

I’ve been listening to the left’s rhetoric regarding both the Daniel Penny acquittal as well as the cold blooded murder of the UnitedHealthCare CEO.

In the case of the murder of the CEO, people on the left are celebrating because they say that this heinous act ‘brings attention to the systemic problems of the insurance industry’.  Ya know what, it doesn’t, at least not for me.

Yes, our insurance industry is jacked, but that’s because it’s been allowed to become that way and in some cases, forced to become that way by legislative actions.  My dental insurance taps out at $1600/year, which includes costs for regular appointments, which are are about $200/pop if there’s no x-rays or extras.  A root canal is at least a grand.

Does the murder of some guy I never heard of make me blame him or any other CEO for my dental costs?  Nope.

But for the blood dancers on the left, they feel that they can hide their joy behind a curtain of ‘system awareness’.  No, it’s really just blood dancing.  They’re the bread and circuses people.  Give them food and bloodshed and they are well content.  They’d be bringing the virgins and warriors to the foot of the temple to have their hearts removed if that was still in vogue, but they settle for what they can.

Speaking of warriors, one stood up and did the right thing, but because of his skin color, almost had his life destroyed (the two guys helping him were differently-hued an so weren’t even a footnote).  And the left is still calling for his blood as well as the blood of those who share a skin tone with him.   Maybe it’s because the people on the left are chock-full of DEI and new studies show that it actually increases hostility and racial tension?

This situation make me look at the system.  The differential prosecution.  The hypocrisy–by both the man who died’s father (you know, the guy who kicked him out and let him live on the street) as well as those who live for violence.

I wonder if, in the coming days, that BLM and their ilk will get away with similar actions to what they did in 2020?  People are tired.  And they are speaking out.  The brown and black folks on Daniel Penny’s jury had suffered from being accosted by people like Neeley, sometimes daily.

Maybe there’s a chance for civilization again rather than bread and circuses.

  1. You misunderstand about the prosecution of Daniel Penny… The prosecution and trial was the Punishment. The fact that he had to go all that time, defending himself, not knowing what the outcome was going to be…that is the punishment for stepping up while white. Ultimately though, it was about power for the entire team of Prosecutors and the other political figures. The got to harass and try a White Man for “Killing a Black Man” and making sure that Justice Was Served. Much like Kyle Rittenhouse, this was all about DEI posturing and political power. Daniel Penny should not have been prosecuted at all,. As to your insurance coverage, that is what the employer (who is the buyer of insurance) chose to provide. It isn't the fault of the CEO of the company who sells the insurance. If it is anyone's fault, it is the folks where you work that choose the level of coverage. For the right price, they can get any coverage they want for you.

  2. B makes a good point about insurance … and of course we have employer based insurance as a direct result of the government interference in the economy. Back when the GIs were getting back from World War II, inflation started to take off. Truman decided that a wage freeze was the best way to deal with it.Suddenly, if I wanted to hire you, I couldn't offer you more than what you were currently making. What I could do is offer you non-cash benefits. I'll pay you the same amount, and give you and your family health insurance. Now do you want to come work for me?This has spiraled to the point where, you go to the doctor, but you are not the doctor's customer, the insurance company is. As B points out, you are not the insurance company's customer, your employer is. No wonder the feedback loop is so broken. If you have prescription insurance, when was the last time that you bought prescriptions based on price? You shop based on location and convenience since your copay is the same regardless. Again, the feedback loop is broken. All because the government decided to interfere with the economy.

  3. It always gets a head shake from me when the estranged family shows up weeping and crying for justice. If anyone knew their spawn was shithouse rat crazy it was Ma and Pa, that little sis and brother wanted nothing to do with El Loco.Their pain and suffering from the loss of someone they wanted nothing to do with can be relieved by a cash influx of a few measly millions.
