More proof that wind power is not a self sustaining proposition

 Offshore wind farms companies would rather pay fines that continue down the sure path to financial ruin.

“After exploring all potential solutions to the financial challenges facing the project, and engaging in good-faith and productive discussions with Connecticut state officials regarding these challenges, it is clear the best path forward for Park City Wind is in the termination of the Power Purchase Agreements and a rebid of the project.” 

That fine is about $16 million.  They paid a previous one costing $48 million to Massachusetts. 

This is despite the fact that the Biden administration, abetted by our representatives, shoveled $7 billion down the wind farm drain.

Previously the administration was trying to sell windfarm leases in the Gulf of Mexico and got NO bites.  Because no one can make any money at it.   

Hopefully all of them will get shut down, because obviously the ‘environmentalists’ don’t care about the whales anymore.

I’d like to see the ones on land all get shut down as well. Useless killing machines.

    Here,here!I used to live in northern n VT And NY, and often drove past several wknd farms. I would count at least 25% idle at any time. Whether from lack of wind or lack of maintenance, or just too damned cold for the lubricants.

    A relatively recent addition to aeronautical charts is the symbol for solar farms. Included is a text warning of 'optical glare'. Elsewhere I have read that the glare can and does cause temporary blindness. In some cases, intense headaches.A few years ago I flew by a solar farm outside of Las Vegas. Though I hadn't had the watning, common sense dictates to not look toward polished mirrors in full sunlight. What surprised me was the sudden and strong updraft. This though I was maybe a mile or so lateral distance from the solar farm.Flying in the southwestern states, I'm used to strong verticle winds. But this seemed different. So I circled round to make a second flyby. Same thing.I was about 5,000 agl and it was the only updraft on that flight.

    When fedgov subsidizes your project, fines probably do not realize the intended effect. Heck, paying the fines might win 'street cred' as a true believer.

    Avraham–Me too.Ed–A blight on the landscape and useless.Anon 11:06–That makes sense–the heat from the farms would have created an updraft. Pretty significant though if you were at 5000 agl.Anon 11:12–The point being that they'd rather take the fine that continue to pour money down the drain, even our taxpayer dollars.
