I watch a lot of Amazon’s FreeVee service–older or Canadian TV shows. There’s commercials periodically through the show but that’s okay.
As I was watching today I noticed a couple of commercials that emphasized the good that TikTok was doing by providing a platform for a young woman to save her parents’ restaurant and for an older veteran to get donations to pay for mobility scooters for other veterans.
I’m assuming that this is a response by the Chinese government to try to mitigate the damage that the TikTok ‘challenges’ (eating Tide Pods, etc) does to children and to try to head off the app being banned in the US the way that it now is in Montana.
The TikTok folks/Chinese government really wants to keep this app active within the US–how could they continue to steal personal data without it?
