Apparently it’s okay to not tell parents that you’re allowing a student to use a different name, wear different clothes at school, or, in some cases, give them drugs that will alter their hormones. If a student falls under a certain approved category, then his or her privacy is sacrosanct, even if they rape other students.
But have a student get the crap kicked out of them in the hallway of a school and then commit suicide when the video goes online, then it’s okay for the school superintendent to go to a news outlet and let everyone know their other problems. And to go into details. I’m not going to post what the jackweasel said, but it’s pretty intimate.
Parlapanides defended the school’s decision not to call police after Adriana was beaten, saying it was against school policy, and insisting the bullies involved were suspended and would’ve suffered a “double whammy” if educators called cops.
This kind of thinking is criminal. And airing a student’s problems to the public at large in order to try to cover your own ass is also criminal, literally. But he was allowed to resign, not be fired. I am assuming that what he talked about was covered under FERPA since it would have been part of the student’s record.
There is more than one parent whose student has a lawsuit against this district. But they need to go after the now-former superintendent directly.
He is the epitome of what is wrong with public education and needs to be made an example by being reduced to pauperhood and then having a nice roommate in jail who will give him what he so richly deserves.
