It's never anyone's 'turn'

It’s lovely to see our republic at work.  The press and the Dems (sorry, redundant) are throwing a hissy fit because new Republicans in the House are actually wanting to have a say in running our government.  The rules have been modified so that the Speaker is essentially dictator.

The new folks are asking to have the House returned to some semblance of common sense.

McCarthy thought it was ‘his turn’ to be Speaker.  Look how it being someone’s ‘turn’ played out with John McCain, whose ‘turn’ it was to run for President.  Or Biden, same deal.

The Freedom Caucus is trying to break the lock that leadership has on the rest of the members and that would allow them to actually do the job to which they were elected rather than be a rubber stamp for whatever back-room deals are being made.

They can keep voting for all I care.  It’s not an embarrassment, it’s the way a representative government is supposed to work.

And if it turns out to be McCarthy in the end, he’s been served notice that he’s not going to be a somewhat male version of Drunk Nancy.

ETA:  If we could also get that Constitutional Amendment reversed and have Senators once again appointed by their respective states….

  1. On the one hand, having the house bound up like someone with irritable bowel syndrome eating too much cheese keeps them from doing more bad things to Americans. On the other hand, they aren't tying up the purse strings against China Joe Poopy Pants' agenda of tyranny either.
