Making good with what you've got

A plane crashed into a frozen creek in Maryland on Monday.  The pilot got onto the wing, but was in danger of freezing in the icy water.  A couple of enterprising folks took to their kayaks to get to the plane.

Since the water was frozen, the oars would not propel them so they used screwdrivers instead.

They got the pilot onto a kayak until an emergency boat arrived.

He was treated at a local hospital and is going to be fine.

Excellent response and thinking on the part of the rescuers.

  1. If you recall when the jet went down in the Hudson river, all the passengers were rescued by water taxis before the USCG or FDNY arrived on scene. There are a lot of good people out there. Sometimes it's hard to remember that.Well done kayakers!
