The UN lost the plot decades ago. The hypocrisy of its inner workings stagger the rational mind. I can’t even use the broken watch analogy because they are wrong so many times.
So this was a surprise: the UN Commission on the Status of Women decided to kick Iran off less than a year after their term started.
Of course the Biden admin is still trying to give them nukes, so okay, small potatoes considering the people they’ve killed in the past three months.
Considering this history, the fact that they were on this commission in the first place is just stupid.
It’s like having one of several countries who are continuing to commit genocide against their own people on the Human Rights Council (oh yeah, didn’t China just get elected in July 2022 to that Council while the evidence of their behavior towards the Uyghurs continues to mount?). There’s even a report from the outgoing High Commissioner on Human Rights that says so.
If anyone needs anymore evidence as to why the UN should be shuffled into the dustbin of history, I can’t think of two better examples.
It serves no purpose save for the aggrandizement of their members.
