Wow! NASCAR takes coincidence to a new level

Kevin Harvick has been an outspoken critic of the Next Gen car.  He’s right on a lot of things and it’s a crap design plus there’s a monopoly on parts (most are single-source).  Maybe having his car burn out from under him pissed him off a little bit….

Two top tier drivers are out due to concussions (Kurt Busch has been out for over a month and is missing the chance for the big prize).  That’s been unheard of since Earnhardt Jr got his bell rung several years ago.  Even Ryan Newman walked out of the hospital after four days subsequent to his car going airborne and getting smashed into.

Taking NASCAR brass to task publicly has been a general no-no in the past–everything was handled behind the scenes.  But several drivers in addition to Harvick are complaining about this car type to the press.  Listen to Dale Jr’s commentary in the last video–he’s pointing out overall problems with these new cars.

But Harvick has been the strongest voice–talking about ‘crappy ass parts’.  And now, mysteriously, when NASCAR pulled his car for inspection, he’s gotten dinged for “unapproved modification for a single-source part.”  He’s had 100 points deducted from his total for the year, his team has been fined 100 points, and his crew chief has to sit out four races and has also been fined $100,000.

If we needed any more proof that NASCAR has gone full liberal, we don’t need to look any further based on these shenanigans.  And they are putting their drivers at risk and won’t back down.  It would serve them right if the drivers walked.  They need the drivers more than the drivers need NASCAR.

Ryan Newman walked out of the hospital after this.  ‘Car of Tomorrow’

Kurt Busch is still out after this. ‘Next Gen car’
Kevin Harvick catching on fire at Darlington. ‘Next Gen car’

  1. NASCAR is a monopoly run by a family. Think of them like the Gambino family. You don't criticize the family in public or someone will drag your knuckles on the curb for awhile.Trying to make NASCAR trendy and current probably cost them more viewers than they could have hoped to gain. F1 or Indy cars are faster but the racing in NASCAR was hard to beat.

  2. Gerry–Agree. NASCAR is trying a bunch of tricks instead of giving fans access to the races if they don't have cable like through a streaming subscription. The racing this years in NASCAR has been really meh.
