Breakfast at The Apron

B is always on the search for restaurants close to regional airports and scored bigly with The Apron in Jackson, Michigan.  Their claim to fame is their breakfast tacos (not the Jill Biden kind).

So we got a couple of friends, loaded up, and flew out.

The Apron serves up eggs with sausage, bacon, and cheese in a pancake.  You have a choice of sausage gravy or pico de gallo as a sauce.  Pretty darn tasty.

Fortunately the restaurant is also popular with the local and local airplane enthusiasts so it survived covid.  There’s a nice patio with couches and chairs so people can sit out and watch the planes come in.

I’m progressing from inputting comm frequency changes and codes into the system to actually talking with ATC.  Despite listening to B and having LiveATC on quite a bit when I’m in the car, it’s a lot harder than it would seem on the outside.  But I’m learning.

And I got a really nice compliment–B told some pilot friends that I’m the best non-pilot co-pilot a person could want in the right seat.

Which is pretty cool.

If you’re in the Jackson area, whether flying or driving, check out The Apron.
