Yesterday took surreal to 11 when a new neighbor said he had an opossum in his garage. Not outside the realm of possibility so I go to check. Turns out it was a ferret. Other new neighbor has a couple of ferrets that keep getting outside so I put two-and-two together.
Someone who was moving thew out a kitten carrier that looked like it would be just the ticket in case said neighbor wasn’t home–you know the kind with the squeeze opening. So I picked up Ferret (cute critter) and put him in the crate.
Pounded on the door and rang the bell until someone answered. Got stared at through the glass for a good three minutes as I’m pointing at the crate with the ferret in it by a 16 year old.
Finally he opened the garage door (not the door I was standing at). I asked him if the ferret belonged there and he kind of indicated it did.
I told him that the ferret probably needed food and water since he was locked in someone else’s garage all night. Don’t know if it sunk in. There were two other yoots in the garage I think trying to find the second ferret.
I hand him the crate. Then he asks me to show him how to open it. Twice. But he’ll certainly vote when he hits 18.
