New Math??

The below was actually used as a math quiz in Missouri.  Once it was discovered, they pulled the quiz and explained it came from a website where ‘educational’ materials are shared.  But this is the importance of the need for curricular transparency.

Because this assignment is definitely more than just math and I’m pretty sure that there are other classes that would discuss Maya Angelou’s past.

Besides it’s a crappy assignment–it’s pretty easy to guess the missing word without solving the problem.

In China, they are teaching advanced algebra in grade school and I’m betting they don’t care about any poet’s past as part of it.

  2. Yep. Not sure I'd call it CRT, but definitely would call it bad teaching.
