It's a small start

Point Park University is closing its Equity and Diversity office at the end of this semester.  It’s kind of hollow since the personnel will still be employed and the policies will still continue.  Not surprisingly, the student government (SGA) is trying to dictate to the university administration.  But not all students agree with the student government association, which is quite refreshing.

PPU student Carsen Brunn told Campus Reform that “if the objective of dissolving the office is to increase its efficiency in dealing with students’ needs, it feels like President McDermott had made a serious miscalculation in trying to stop this change.”

Note:  President McDermott is the SGA president.

Reading between the lines, the university has figured out that equity and diversity offices suck down quite a bit of money and really don’t provide any useful return and this office was only put into place right before the covid lockdowns.

I’d like to hope this can become a trend as more universities feel the pinch since college enrollments are dropping like rocks.
