This does not make sense to me at all–The Flight Attendant's Union wants more masking

Data are showing that masks are the cause of the increase in fights and turmoil on airplanes.  

Confrontations are rising and people are getting hurt.  

You see the videos of people stirring shit on planes who are not masked up while insisting that everyone else be masked.  

Parents of small children or children with disabilities are being kicked off planes even when their kids are too young to wear one or if they have a medical exemption or medical emergency.

The heads of a couple airlines indicated that masks aren’t necessary due to the air filtration on commercial planes but got shut down really frickin’ quick by Brandon and the Flight Attendant Union (who seem to be as maniacal as the Teachers Unions around the country).

But despite the increase in injuries to their members, the Flight Attendant’s Union still wants masking.

You’d think that logically what they’d like is for passengers to be unmasked so that the level of confrontation goes down.

    I'd say there's two reasons for their insistence:1. Fear- They've been told, and made to enforce a rule, for more than two years now, that masks are saving them from Covid. This is regardless of the actual low-to-no efficacy of masks and the actual high efficacy of the airplanes' air filtration system.So, of course they're against removing something that they've been told and ordered to use that they've been told time and again is “saving their lives” regardless of reality. Hard to shift your mind form that – see all the people who are still insisting on wearing low-efficacy masks when the mandates are lifted because they're still scared.2. Power- Prior to the government regs on Covid, people getting throw off airplanes were rare and largely confined to aggressive drunks, or aggressive Muslims testing the security system. Both are scary and who wants to confront that? Now you have the power and can kick off some inoffensive parents and their kids for their kids not wearing a mask and your risk in doing so is much lower, but the power feedback is higher and you can justify it by claiming you're “saving lives”. Quite the power trip.

    Yep, they believe that the masks protect the Flight Attendants (and everyone else). They are incorrect, but, as Aaron said, they've been told that for years….So they want their “security” to remain in place. Logic fails when religion-like belief is in place.

    The demand for masking is to instill submissiveness. It is usual that cabin crews have to ride hard on unruly passengers. In the confines of the metal tube, a disruption by a pax can grow quickly across the whole of self-loading cargo. Plus, given the heightened risk in the flight levels, it is vital that the paxs be subdued even before they get started. Further, airline travel has devolved to such an unpleasant experience that paxs are primed for confrontation.Therefore it is of prime importance to inculcate the pax with submissiveness. Ergo, the mask.

    Aaron–In that I think they are a lot like teachers. Fear and power. B–It has evolved to a religion-like belief system. The Holy Mask will protect from the Evil Covids.Rick–I understand the trying to instill submissiveness, but it seems to be going in the other direction and causing a boil over of confrontations.
