Some Valentine's day things that made me 'urp'

I’m really not a fan of Valentine’s day.  I do appreciate a day dedicated to love and the sentiments of those who send greetings on that day, so I’m not a Karen about it and take the greetings in the spirit in which they are presented.   But it’s not a day I typically get into.  Plus, really bad shit seems to happen to me  around February 14.  Dunno why but it doesn’t help my attitude.

That said, there were some things that I saw yesterday that kind of made my stomach more than a bit queasy.

Item 1–Trudeau deciding to go full-on Governor Tarkin by activating the emergency powers act that wasn’t even used on 9-11.  I’m sure he’s been told that going full-on tyrant is not the way to go, but he’s a small, gutless man and that seems to be the way they swing.  Hope the exit door hits him on the ass when he’s thrown out of it.

Item 2–The ATF’s ‘Get even with your ex by ratting him out so we can take his guns’ Valentine’s message.  Seriously, what the fuck?  I don’t like the day, but to twist it into some revenge fantasy is just plain wrong.

Item 3–Jill Biden’s kindergarten school version of decorating.  Follow the link, I have no words for the lack of class and taste this woman has.  Especially in light of what Joe said about last year.  It made me sad but does contextualize why she’s willing to make him a laughingstock sockpuppet.

The president told reporters then that Valentine’s Day is his wife’s favorite holiday. During his first year as vice president during the Obama administration, he said, he walked into his office to see that his wife had painted every one of the panes in his window with a heart that read, “Joe loves Jill.”

“None of them said ‘Jill loves Joe.’ They said ‘Joe loves Jill’ in every one,” the president said. He added that he once told a reporter who asked about his “great love affair” with his wife that “everyone knows I love her more than she loves me!”

Item 4–Valentine’s cards on the official Democrat twitter feed.  Cringeworthy does not completely describe them.  Fortunately Not the Bee has a roundup plus some responses.  Follow this link for a cringe and laugh.

None of these things have worked to change my mind about the day.

  1. “Joe loves Jill.”I am sure she did it to help Joe can remember her name, and maybe his own as well.

  2. Gerry–The thing I noticed (and that, sadly Joe did too) is that none of them said that Jill loves Joe. To her, he's a vehicle to power. That's why she keeps him upright and nursemaids him. Almost like Munchausen by proxy.
