It seems the Northeast gets the best names for their weather–Nor’easters, Bomb Cyclones, Superstorms.
Here in the Midwest we get bland names for our weather–Snow, Lots of Snow, Thunderstorms.
Not to say that the weather reporters don’t try to really talk up our weather, but they just don’t have the creativity of the East Coast naming conventions.
The closest they came was ‘polar vortex’ and we kind of laughed at it. We don’t get any ‘named’ storms here either. The most we get is a classification on a tornado and a storm is either a ‘supercell’ (aka: Big Ass storm) or a ‘nonsupercell’ (aka: a storm).
Maybe it’s because we don’t need flowery terms.
Is it going to snow? Yes or No.
If yes, then how much?
Pretty much that’s it. It’s all we need.
So we’re expecting Lots of Snow in the next couple of days. I have the fixins for french toast already so no need to head to the store and watch the idjits vie for the last loaf of bread.
