NASCAR goes full-full woke

I mean, I knew they were headed that direction with the whole garage-pull-Bubba-Smollett thing with the FBI.  Their rules for the races have taken the sport out of the sport since everyone has to use the same kind of car.  And now, poor Brandon Brown can’t even have a sponsor on his car.

The kid is radioactive to sponsors through no fault of his own (he should sue Kelly Whatsherface for starting the meme).

Considering NASCARs viewership, I’d think that all kinds of products would be lining up to be on his car.  Well, LGBcoin, a memecoin wanted to be his major sponsor.  And NASCAR signed off, but then pulled back their approval.

Because they suck.

Let’s see how they’ve pushed fans away:

  • Car of Tomorrow
  • Race Stages
  • Switching races to cable-only for some races
  • Changing networks mid-season
  • Bubba Smollett and the garage pull

and now not allowing Brandon Brown to display a sponsor when they allowed Bubba to put BLM on his car.

Fuck ’em.  I’ll stick to Formula One–at least they keep some modicum of sense.

  1. Add in once upon a time, anybody in any auto related business could exhibit on the race grounds and sell whatever they wanted as long as NASCAR got their cut. That changed when they decide to set up a NASCAR village of NASCAR only stuff. Bye bye vendors and fans dollars.Racing runs on sponsors money. That's why Danica and Bubba are good for your team even if they aren't competitive on the track. They bring in millions to the team.Cut off the ability to bring in sponsors dollars and you eliminate that team and driver. Poor Brandon!

  3. You forgot to mention the rice burner teams in a red blooded American sport.

  4. They lost me years ago when Firestone was eating Goodyear's lunch and then they allowed Goodyear to “buy” the 100% of the business because they could not compete and that is horrible for the sport.

  5. Gerry–I meant NOT of his own making…Anon–I understand your point, but if a rice burner can hang with a US muscle car on equal terms (no car of tomorrow) then I have no issue.JamesD–They've worked very hard to take the competition out of the sport. Just not quite as fun to watch.

  6. At least Formula One doesn't actually believe all that woke nonsense. They let Hamilton and the teams/drivers make their sanctimonious statements, then they all go ahead and run races in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi. Heck, Marlboro is STILL paying Ferrari to be a sponsor even though they can't race with the tobacco sponsorship on their car. After all, money talks in F1.
