Need more semicolons

As those of us know, who went to school before the educational system was completely taken over by political activists, a semicolon is used to separate two thoughts within the same sentence.

There is a dearth of semicolons when the Brandon Administration/US Pravda is writing about the XOMICRON along with covid stats (which are factually wrong).

For example:

‘We will also note that if you are unvaccinated you are at high risk of getting this variant. This variant is highly transmissible and the unvaccinated are eight times more likely to be hospitalized and 14 times more likely to die from covid,’ said the official previewing the speech.

Let’s look at it sentence by sentence:

We will also note that if you are unvaccinated you are at high risk of getting this variant.

There is absolutely no truth to that.  In fact, it seems that over 80% of those who have a positive test with XOMICRON are vaxxed and, in many cases, boosted.

So, the sentence should actually read:

We will also note that if you are vaccinated (including boosted) you are at high risk of getting this variant.

Next sentence:

This variant is highly transmissible and the unvaccinated are eight times more likely to be hospitalized and 14 times more likely to die from covid

This sentence has a couple of errors.  The XOMICRON is highly transmissible.  Yes.  However, there should be a semicolon after transmissible.   And the symptoms are mild, even a month in.

The second part is untrue–right now most of the hospitalizations are the vaxxed.  Additionally, very few die FROM covid and a lot of people are dying WITH covid.

So it should read:

The omicron variant is highly transmissible, but all data shows that the symptoms and genetic code make it a common cold; anyone, including the unvaccinated and vaccinated with underlying conditions, including gunshot wounds, are eight times more likely to be hospitalized and fourteen times more likely to die with a positive covid test.

There.  I fixed it.

  2. I’m generally discouraged by the amount of lying in the media. I understand the four people who died in our rural region were all fully vaccinated. Colleges like Cornell are going to on line finals, skipping in person commencements for winter grads, and apparently doing next semester on line and the school is 95% vaccinated including students, faculty and staff. The media also keeps saying the new strain was discovered in November but don’t add the 2020! The one thing I worry about, since the vaccine is based on mRNA, is this strain programmed to become more lethal reacting to the vaccine?

  3. NFO–You're welcome!! GI-had Joe–The lying by association totally torques me off. I'm glad that others are bothered too.Howard–Yes, the media lying is very discouraging. They really are neo-Pravda. I think though, that folks who have gotten the shot (and it seems that it causes the body to create spike proteins for about 15 months), are becoming immuno-compromised so the strain is likely to effect the vaxxed more strongly than the non-vaxxed.
