 I just heard that Dean Stockwell has left this world.  It’s interesting, to me at least, how when you think of an actor, there’s sometimes one scene out of one work that stands out to you.  When thinking of Dean Stockwell, there are actually three roles/scenes:  

1) the singer in Blue Velvet

2) Yueh in Dune (1984)

3) Al in Quantum Leap

For the third one, there was an episode where Sam ended up in his brother’s unit in Vietnam (in Sam’s past, his brother had died saving POWs that were being moved to another camp).  Al directed Sam to where he needed to be to save his brother, but the POWs remained so for another five years.  Al was one of the POWs.

Dean Stockwell’s acting in that scene was one that stays with me today.
