Where were you when the Towers fell? I could probably show the exact place on the sidewalk I was on.
I got a call while walking to work in Boston and being told that the Twin Towers in New York had been hit by a plane. Later watched as a second plane hit the other tower and watched as one literally melt and fall while my co-workers cried or just stared in horror.
The horror was amplified when hearing about the Pentagon and United Flight 93 and seeing the smoke on the television. Thinking about friends in New York and DC–was G at the Pentagon that day? Was S at her shop in the Village? Was anyone I know on those planes leaving out from Logan that morning?
Thinking about the people in those buildings, on those planes–their terror and fear. The first responders, trying so hard to find someone, anyone alive in that horrific rubble.
They just identified two more people from that terrible day. Twenty years later.
Remember those who died. Remember the warriors of Flight 93 who fought to the end.
