With the NCAA and the Wokesters (now that would be a good name for a band) decide to rewrite sports by forcing teams to change their names, then stupid is sure to ensue.
The Washington Redskins are now the Washington Football Team. They are likely to stay that way for a while because they can’t think of something else.
The Cleveland Indians are now the Cleveland Guardians (or are they because their roller derby team already called dibs on that one?).
And on the college side, Valparaiso University has decided on changing their name from the Crusaders to the Beacons. Still don’t know what their symbol and mascot will be–maybe a grail shaped beacon like the one on Castle Anthrax?
Of note is the name change came on the same day that the Indiana AG Todd Rokita announced an investigation into the university’s connection to the Confucius Institute and the CCP.
Maybe the university is hoping Rokita will be blinded by their light during his investigation.
