Weird knowledge

So you know that your house contains the font of weird knowledgefull-goodness when your sister calls out of the blue to ask what happened in Logan’s Run when people reached 30 years old.  The interesting part is that both Himself and myself could explain in some detail that the crystal in the palm of the person’s hand changed to blinking red at age 30 (which is how Logan became a runner) and then they were called to Carousel to get renewed.  They would then float up into the air in a circle and blow up as a population control method.  You also know you’ve explained in too great detail when your sister says “well-that’s-all-I-needed-to-know-talk-to-you-later-bye”.

  1. I still love that movie!I've read several times that there's been a remake in the works for a while now. Maybe the reason it hasn't made it to the big screen is because “Carousel” is now part of the Obamacare bill? 🙂

  2. Me too–it's an interesting look at a possible future, complete with a culturally-acceptable/celebrated enforced euthanasia. Maybe with the way things are progressing, we need to take it as a cautionary tale?IMO though, no one can replace Michael York. Gregory Harrison did a pretty good job in the short-lived (ironic, that) TV show.

  3. I would love to re-watch the (campy) TV show. No release yet on DVD.

  4. There were a whole bunch of short-lived shows that I doubt will ever see DVD, that's one of them unfortunately.
