Via Aaron Gee at American Thinker, a posting about a California police officer who ‘joked’ on Facebook that Second Amendment supporters/advocates should be shot. Reasoning such as this is why citizens should be armed. If we are unable to defend ourselves from those ‘trained’ to be armed, then we have made ourselves automatic victims. From the original article here, the police department is having to walk a fine line since the comments were made on his personal Facebook page, thus is a First Amendment issue.
And this is why the populace should be armed…..

My parents were both police officers and I was appalled by those views. But you're right, unless he identifies himself as an officer of such and such on his site, where it might be construed that they embrace his policies, I don't think they can discipline him.

That's the line and I'm not sure if he identified himself as an officer or if someone else did. Interesting though and I think shows what kinds of attitudes are out there. If that's his attitude towards an armed populace, can you imagine what he could do to an unarmed populace?
