I’m reading in the NY Post that one of the many issues with Ilhan Omar’s records was a change in birthdate. Somehow they managed to change it by a year to make her seem younger than she is.
WASHINGTON — Rep. Ilhan Omar’s staff helped get her birthdate changed in public records once the Minnesota Democrat was elected to Congress in 2018, a switch that has since spurred frenzied accusations that she misrepresented her age to secure US citizenship.
The reason that it’s important is that she claims to have been naturalized under her father’s naturalization (completely different issue to see if that was legit as well). So she never went through the naturalization process on her own. Which means she never swore oaths, nor is she a citizen, which is a requirement to be a member of Congress.
Apparently one of her former political opponents brought this up and was shut down because a judge thought that ‘Congress would vet their own’. Yeah, because we have congresscritters disappear for weeks and months at a time with no accountability so you can damn skippy be sure that they aren’t checking the details of someone’s citizenship.
In a previous workplace experience, I was asked to change the birthdate on a legal document and flatly refused because, although not a state or federal document, it could be used to leverage changes up the chain. Pretty sure it was a factor in my dismissal a little while later.
Small changes have up- and down-stream consequences and details matter.
I’m hoping her whole house of cards comes tumbling down.
