RIP Dolly Parton

I was truly sorry to read about the passing of Dolly Parton this afternoon. She was a true talent and force of nature who gave back so much both her community and the world at large.

One of my favorite memories was when she put Barbara Walters in her place, in true class and style.

A true light is now shining down from above.

  1. Dolly had nothing to prove to anyone. She knew who she was. She always was a little over the top- but she leaned into it. She understood the business. The folks who looked down their noses at her were the low class snobs.

    1. She was who she was and if you didn’t like it, she’d tell you what to do with it.

  2. My favorite quote from her – because of the humor – was when an interviewer commented on her wigs and the other things in her dressing room, and she responded, “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.”

I wasn’t into country music at all when I was young, but my Dad was, and I remember seeing her on television back in the 1960s. I don’t remember when I first saw her perform on her own; she always seemed to be paired with Porter Waggoner back then.

  3. She was one of a kind and she sang great.

  4. Blueray–Screed sent directly to spam. Go pee in someone else’s Cheerios.
