There is a bruhaha going on in North Carolina where a ten year old supposedly wrote an essay (school project) on something they felt was important. The essay was then forwarded to Virginia Foxx, his congresswoman.
10-year-old Christian Mango was given a homework assignment to write a persuasive essay about a topic of his choosing and to send it to an official of some sort, business leader, congressman, senator, etc.
In this case, the essay was about awarding tax credits to EV owners and how that would help the environment.
Congresswoman Foxx wrote back to the child.
She said his idea to give a tax rebate to electric car owners would take money out of the pockets of ‘hardworking people’.
She added: ‘I have also linked here six articles about the disastrous record of policies enacted to address “climate change” for your perusal.’
Foxx also told Christian that the US national debt needs to be paid off by 2038, adding: ‘2038 is only 12 years away and you and your classmates will be responsible for that debt. Incidentally, please ask your teacher to explain propaganda to you.
‘While I will never be able to know, my guess is that your teachers will not give you a good educational experience and help you learn to think for yourselves, but instead will indoctrinate and brainwash you. How sad.’
While writing back directly to the child, instead of the school or the teacher was in bad form, IMO, she’s correct about the indoctrination. And most of the vitriol about this will only be a revised version of the last sentence, if it hits your feed.
That said, I’ll eat my left shoe with BBQ sauce if a 10 year old felt strongly enough about giving EV tax credits that he wrote an essay about it. I’m guessing that part of the butthurt from the mother (no word from the father, of course) is that Congresswoman Foxx dissed her essay.
