Dumb ideas that live and die by the sword

In Boston they implemented a policy of having social workers and mental health ‘professionals’ deploy along with police officers supposedly to ‘defuse’ tense situations.

Well, this goes as well as could be expected by anyone with half a brain.

on Saturday one of those clinicians was attacked by a delusional man wielding a sword. The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, attacked the clinician as well as police officers with the sword. Cops responded by shooting and killing the suspect.

Apparently they’ve had this program in place for several years, but I can’t think that it is helpful to have officers have to split their attention or for others to put themselves in harm’s way.

The EMS clinician deployed to the scene spoke to the man for 45 minutes through the door before the suspect pushed open the door and attacked.

“He immediately opened the door and struck the clinician and an officer who was outside the door. He was armed with some type of sword, stabbing the officer in the arm and knocking the EMS clinician to the ground,” Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox said. “One or more officers, which is under investigation at this time, fired a taser and weapon at the individual, bringing the person to a halt.”

Gun trumps sword. Officer trumps clinician. That’s pretty easy to figure out.

  1. People who make these dumb-ass decisions have apparently been sheltered their entire lives, never having to operate in the real world. Real evil does exist. It’s not just in books and movies. When you operate in reality, you’d better be prepared to take care of business. Professional students and lifelong “educators” seem to be the most oblivious with lots of misplaced trust and confidence.

  2. Imagine the hubris of Boston’s government that thinks sending a psych nurse to talk to an armed lunatic is going to end up in anything but the nurse being attacked and possibly severely injured or killed and the mental case DRT.

So glad I left that shit hole 50 or so years ago.

Mass. a perfect example what happens to a once nice state and the progenitor of the American Revolution when it is overrun with far left whacko’s whose only formula for running government is tax and spend and where it’s not illegal to be illegal.

Notice how quickly the state .gov got involved when the hoity toity Martha’s Vineyard had 75 illegals decamped on their lawns. They got them off the island so fast it made the illegals heads spin.

‘Course Barak and Moochelle weren’t there at the time. Otherwise I’m SURE that Bitch Boy would have prevented the transfer of the poor oppressed illegals to the mainland.

  4. In general, the useful idiots on the left do not understand human nature. Based on watching the position changes over the years of the leftists I know, I’m convinced they don’t have a core philosophy, and they do not think for themselves. They are the classic NPC regurgitating whatever someone else in their group think has written or said. They believe if you ask nicely, the person will put down the sword.

The leaders of the left are fundamentally driven by malice. They want to destroy the existing system so that they can be the absolute rulers of the system they create from the ashes of civilization.

Too bad neither of them understand history. History says the leaders bringing about the change will be the first against the wall.

People who make these decisions don’t go out and deal with the results. They have people that do who are expendable.

  6. I for one approve of sending liberal social workers through the door first.

  7. People with degrees in the Social “Sciences” tend to be delusional because they got “A”s for turning in bullshit papers where there were no objective answers.

They also think that since they cannot perform math, logic or function without spell-check, then they MUST be “good with people”.

Consequently, every darned one of them thinks they are the Michael Jordan of psychology.

Frankly, having every person on the Social Sciences academic teaching track perform a year of service as a parole officer has a great deal of merit, especially if their “metrics” (cases seen, cases remanded, cases with no recidivism, etc.) were better than average. We need the parole officers and the job would knock the BS out of them.

  8. ERJ- Your take on the academic situation is spot on. I recall taking Sociology courses that were just basically the results of studies of ordinary situations whose outcomes were almost always self- explanatory. And as for the “good with people” part- having all of the current poular opinions, never being politically incorrect, and being extremely wishy washy all are tools in the toolbox of the superior Socio- Psychologist. The Parole/probation gig would be an outstanding reality check. Unfortunately, those jobs require some street smarts. It is my opinion that Police officers should be required to work in custody and confinement for a stretch before working the street. Knowing how to get results from people who don’t HAVE to listen to you is a valuable skill.
