The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has run out of other people’s money, mainly the money from the US taxpayer. As you probably know, they are an artifact of the UN and a lovely avenue for grift and has been around since 1988. But all things should come to an end….
In 2024, expenditures from the IPCC Trust Fund exceeded contributions. This gap continued to widen in 2025, when expenditures reached CHF 6,9m, while contributions amounted to only CHF 3,8m. As a result, the opening cash balance of the IPCC Trust Fund declined by CHF 3,1m, falling from CHF 17,8m on 1 January 2025 to CHF 14,7m on 1 January 2026.2
I’m not sure there’s an organization that is less useful or needed than this one. It should just give up the ghost, admit that their raison d’etre is a pile of crap and creep off into the rainforest somewhere. The damage they’ve done to the world is immeasurable. NASA quoted them a lot, which kind of explains why it’s taken almost 60 years to go back to the moon.
Of course they could do a bake sale, but that would actually be work.
