I’m saying it. U.S. culture is better.

The Somali community in Minnesota is still practicing female genital mutilation, despite an over thirty year old state law as well as federal action prohibiting it.

Young girls in Minnesota are suffering irreversible harm in silence, even though state law has called the act a felony for more than thirty years. Female genital mutilation—cutting or removing parts of a girl’s external genitalia for cultural reasons—continues inside tight-knit Somali immigrant families, shielded by shame, family pressure, and official reluctance to look too closely. Despite a documented survivor population in the state and a national estimate exceeding half a million affected women and girls, Minnesota prosecutors have secured zero convictions.

Laws on the books have never been enforced. Doctors, who are required to report abuse (and make no mistake, taking a razor blade to a girl’s genitals is abuse) are not doing so. The State of Minnesota does not track cases and the prohibitions against it have rarely-to-never been enforced.

So yeah, tell me again and cry me a river about how Somalis in the US are ‘enriching our culture’ when all they have brought is grift and barbarism.

The only bright point is they generally stay in their own colonies and don’t infect or infest other groups with their ‘culture’.

From Sir Charles James Napier regarding India’s custom of burning widows on the funeral pyres of their husbands:

“Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs” (Napier 35)

I think Napier had the right idea. These girls are in our country and the full weight of the law should be brought against anyone who aids and abets this travesty.

I’ll take the dog-loving, bacon-eating, free speech culture I was raised in over any other, any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

  1. Maybe that’s why Ilhan Omar and the rest of the squad are so mean and nasty.

But yes, our culture is the best, warts and all. The only way to preserve that culture is to guard, very carefully, who we let into our country. Plain and simple, but so many people just don’t get it.

  2. One of the reasons this country is in the state it’s in is because there are no more gibbets in use any where. That and the lengthy time between sentencing and execution of the few death penalties imposed on people who have earned it under the law.

This premise that people are allowed FREE exhaustive judicial review while they live out their lives in relative comfort is beyond appalling and should have ceased long ago.

Doing away with Capital Punishment has allowed murder and rape to flourish because these people effectively get a slap on the wrist and three hots and a cot for the rest of their lives. Where’s the deterrent in that?

Then there’s the recent practice of letting these miscreants out of jail pending trial with no bail, expecting them to show up at a future date determined by a court.

The outcome isn’t hard to guess. One of those cases resulted in the murder of Iryna Zarutska, who was just riding the train home, by a career criminal who had no business being out of jail, never mind still being alive, and she isn’t the only one. Now, while she molders in the ground, he’ll be living to a ripe old age. Where’s the justice in that?

  3. The overwhelming majority of Somalians that were refugee’d into the US did not come here to be Americans. They came here to be Somalians in America. They have no desire to assimilate. Same goes for most from other cultures. That is from where the problem stems. I would be happy to deport them all back. America is for Americans. Assimilate or go back. Period!

  4. Nemo- CORE-REKT! Absolutely spot on. Beginning in around 1960, capital punishment tapered off and slowed to its current trickle. Payment must me made for human life. Serial killers who are in one form or another begging for the death penalty will never get their reward because our society is too concerned with the “why” of the matter. “Why” doesn’t matter, but if they need an answer- it is because evil is real. But the truth doesn’t make for good journalism and slobbering documentaries about the offenders’ childhoods.

  5. I’ll say it. U.S. culture WAS great. Now, we have watered it down with weak minded thinking, actions, and policies to the point that it is near unrecognizable from 50 years ago. What made our country great was a firm grasp of our own history, shared ideals, an understanding of basic civics, and knowing our neighbors. Now- yeah, but a lot less. Our youth worship at the altar of excess and social media.

  8. I always thought we needed more national holidays , we don’t have enough holidays . We need like a couple of 4 day Romani gypsy wedding holidays . Just thinking YMMV.

  9. If US culture really was better there would be no Somalians in Minnesota…or the rest of the country. But the reality is America is being conquered piecemeal by a culture with the average IQ of a brick. Therefore we do not deserve to survive…and won’t.
