    Regarding Antarctica: the North Star is in Ursa Minor, the “little bear”. The names refer to where you can see the constellation overhead vs. when you can’t see it at all.

  3. Spanking? Folks would FREAK OUT about that happening now… Yet if you look into the origins of the “Rule of Thumb” you’ll see that it was actually a real and accepted practice back in the 18th century to administer a thrashing to “correct” behavior.

    Nemo–That one was particularly good. Glad you found some for your collection!

    boneman–Yep, it was a thing. Considering some of the actions of younger women, bringing it back wouldn’t be a bad thing.

    Cindy–Yep. That one was a little obscure but I liked it.
