Schools of Education need to be abolished

I am of the mind that schools and colleges of education should die screaming with a flaming stake in their collective hearts. They are the most useless of any higher education offering as well as the gateway for propaganda and indoctrination of those who teach our children.

As an example:

Indiana University (IU) is sanctioning a professor after a civil rights investigation into complaints about comments disparaging white people, including fellow educators.

An investigation revealed School of Education assistant professor Marcus Croom created a “hostile educational environment” for white students after a former student filed a complaint with the university’s civil rights office, according to The Herald-Times. The student accused Croom of making several comments about not wanting to associate with white people and declaring “white teachers are white supremacists.”

But because it’s Indiana University, the home of the Kinsey Institute…

The professor now faces a “level one” sanction as a result of the investigation that, after several interviews with other students, concluded that the “preponderance of evidence” supported the complainant’s claims, The Herald-Times reported. Croom’s job or salary will not be affected by the punishment, but he will be required to attend trainings on “inclusive teaching practices” and “respectful engagement with students of all backgrounds.”

So essentially no punishment whatsoever because there’s no way that training on ‘inclusive teaching practices’ is going to cure this guy’s White Privilege TM. And he’s going to continue spewing his outright racism for decades.

Colleges of Education are a stain, IMO. They act as gatekeepers to the teaching profession and don’t teach any subject matter–that’s an afterthought. US education would be greatly improved if these went the way of the dodo.

  1. So, finding no picture of the miscreant prof in the Herald-Times article and just to assure myself that I wasn’t jumping to conclusions with no evidence, I did track down a pic of the professor.

Unfortunately I’m unable to post it here, but rest assured he’s black.

Thus no real punishment like loosing his job which is the punishment meted out to WHITE profs for sometimes just a misperception of racism.

After all, black people just can’t be racist can they?

  2. At most universities, there is only one program that is easier and requires less test scores and grades to get into, and that’s Social Work.

Education degree programs are easier than sports programs, intellectually and in requirements for test scores and grades.

And the teachers unions have a lock on the whole system. A person can be a multiple PhD in hard subjects but he/she/it won’t be able to teach in K-12 without at least a teacher’s certificate (a shortened degree program thingy) or usually a full bachelor’s in edumacation,

It’s a friggin scam, controlled by leftists.

  6. Crazyeighter- he was spot on. It is a rare educator that has worked extensively the field they instruct students on. You would think that experience in a field would be a prerequisite. Instead, most go from being students to instructors with no real world experience in between. Seems like some of the few exceptions are in medicine and trades. Other “disciplines ” seem to require no real experience, as they are mostly opinion based, and outcomes are harder to measure. Those “disciplines ” are where psuedointellectuals thrive.

  7. Nemo–So I guess no White Privilege. Just pure racism instead. If he was white, you’re correct in that he’d probably be fired.

Beans–Agree on all points. The only way to loosen the grip of the teachers unions is to cut off their stranglehold at the source.

    TRoy–Indeed.

crazyeighter–And he was spot on. It’s the degree of last resort. Which may be why so many crazy liberals are also teachers.

    Budd–He was!

TRoy–It’s because the deck is stacked against them. Actually subject matter experts won’t jump through the hoops to teach.
