Amazing what you find when you choose to look

In Macomb County Michigan, the county clerk noticed that a lot of folks being called for jury duty were begging off because they are green card holders (who cannot serve on juries). So he decided to look further and check those folks’ voting records.

Mr. Forlini asked his team to cross-check the 239 non-citizens who refused to perform jury duty with the voter rolls, and what he found is that, according to Michigan’s QVF (Qualified Voter Rolls), 14 of them were registered to vote at some point, with 10 of them still remaining on the voter rolls. Of the 10 non-citizens found on Michigan’s voter rolls (from a very small sample), 4 appear to have voted, and one of them has voted multiple times. Forlini said the voter who cast multiple ballots could face felony charges.

It looks like this crack in the system is caused by ‘motor voter’ where a person signs up to vote when they get their drivers license.

The Macomb County clerk explains, “Currently, someone who applies for a driver’s license automatically is registered to vote unless they choose to decline. If someone is presented with a voter registration form, there is a checkbox for citizenship. If the checkbox is checked “yes” for “I am a United States citizen,” the form is processed even if the applicant is not a U.S. citizen or doesn’t understand the question.
Unlike some states, Michigan does not currently use a federal citizenship database or systematic federal verification to confirm the status at the time of registration.”

“We must find a way for the Driver’s License database to confirm citizenship. Many times there may be a language barrier, and applicants do not understand what they are signing. If this is not addressed, we risk compromising our jury trials and our elections,” said Clerk Forlini.

Of course he’s looking at the system, but the question that occurred to me when reading the above was if they can’t understand the question then how the heck are they passing a driver’s test?

And of course, we have been assured that non-citizens aren’t voting, but somehow they keep finding them.

if 100% of eligible voting-age citizens were registered to vote in Michigan, the state would have 7.9 million registered voters.  Somehow, Michigan miraculously has 8.4 registered voters, according to state data.

Enough to tip elections, right?

  1. It’s called the “margin of Cheat”

  2. When I was a kid, back in the 70s and 80s, I thought that corruption was a concept that was rare, and quickly taken care of. (And it might have been a little less back then, or hidden better.) People used to be fearful of scandal, but now appear to bask in their filth. But, now, the older I get, it seems that corruption usually goes unpunished, and is more common than “normal” people who are always trying to do the right thing. We are lost in more ways than one.

BBBooolllccchhhiiittt. It’s Michagin where blue is the color of the day every day and where cheating in elections is not only expected, it’s condoned by state government.

There was a town or county in MI during one the recent federal elections where the number of ballots counted was 1/3 more than they had registered voters. Yet the election was certified.

Demonrats will ALWAYS find a new way to cheat in elections. It’s in their blood. It’s their modus operandi.

Look back at the great voting scandals of the last two centuries. It’s ALWAYS the Demonrats, the party of thieves and highwaymen.

I can just imagine how much welfare and daycare fraud is occurring in MI.

  5. Boy, for being able to build this country from wilderness in 250 years inventing most stuff as we went, we sure are making a mess of things now.

For encouragement though, if it all burns down, I remember that we did it all in 250 years once before and wouldn’t have to invent so much stuff the second time around. Leave out some of the error that crept in too.

  6. I was going to comment on the “language barrier” quote, but see that it’s been covered and I agree. All official government forms/applications/ballots should be printed in English ONLY. If they can’t understand the form, they shouldn’t be getting a driver’s license or anything else, particularly welfare in any shape or form.
