Food stamp changes in Indiana

On January 1, over 500,000 Hoosiers (yep, over a half a million) will no longer be able to buy soda (or pop as it is known here) or candy using their taxpayer funded food stamps.

What’s Restricted

Under Smart SNAP, two categories of items are banned from SNAP purchases:

  • Sugary Drinks: Non-alcoholic beverages containing natural or artificial sweeteners. The restriction excludes milk-based beverages and 100% juice products.
  • Candy: Sugar, honey, or sweetener preparations combined with chocolate, fruits, nuts, or flavorings in bar, drop, or piece form. Items requiring refrigeration are excluded from the ban.

I thought chips and other snack foods were included along with cake and stuff (and they should be) but this is a good start.

Now, let’s implement drug testing for those benefits as well.

  1. Rumor has it that in the Appalachian regions, “pop” was used to launder the EBT or SNAP benefits. Someone with SNAP money would buy $100 worth of pop from one store, drive across the street to another store, and sell it for $50 cash. That store would then sell the same pop to someone else for $100 and then they’d go across the street to the original store and sell it back to them for $50 cash. On and on. Someone involved admitted that the same dozen cases of pop would cross the street 10 times or more before someone actually bought it to, you know, drink it. The stores both make money on it and the individuals now have cash to go buy drugs.

So this is not so much a health initiative (although it is), but also a hedge against illegally laundering benefits into ready cash. Of course this is nothing compared to the Somali fraud, but it’s still fraud and provides drug money to the poorest of the poor while their children starve.

  2. There was a news report last night on NewsMax about two “convenience stores” In Boston that are/were running a cash for SNAP cards scheme. Oddly the stores were run by a Haitian immigrant. Haitian = Bahamas n****r

Just think about what this country would be like if those 50M illegals (who knows the number might be higher, but certainly NOT any lower and that’s not counting the 25M that came in under Bribem, so 75M+/-) weren’t here scamming the welfare programs and sucking up all of the good paying construction jobs and housing that should be going to people that were born here, brought to you by the Demonrat party. The Demonrat party, the party that fights for welfare and nutritional benefits for illegals, but thinks veterans and active duty troops are lower then whale chit.

The press is always harping on “the housing shortage” and this shortage and that shortage but NEVER investigates or reports on the cause.

  3. Just make it good for 6 months and you can’t get it again for 2 years. IIRC unemployment worked something like that. Of course that would require the gov to keep accurate records and use ID. The horror.

  4. I know two sisters on SNAP, both in their 30s. The older sister was doing everything right, and then her husband found the wonders of meth and took up with his supplier. The older sister is working full time at a respectable job, going to school, and working odd jobs as she can find them to ensure the mortgage is paid and kids are fed.

The younger sister hasn’t held a job for more than two weeks at time. She’s constantly looking for an excuse to not go to work. She does all forms of recreational activities that are not legal in all 50 states.

The older sister I don’t mind helping. The world would be better off without the younger.

  5. I’m so old that I remember that being on welfare, formally known as “being on relief” was a badge of shame and never, ever mentioned. Now, it’s a multi-generational career choice and a tool for politicians to garner votes. Whatever restrictions they’re placing on it ain’t stringent enough tbh. Give ’em MREs.

  6. A list of approved items should be short. Potatoes, rice, beans, canned vegetables, etc. The list of approved items should definitely be shorter than the list of unapproved items.

  7. Barracks. All who take any form of fedgov welfare will be assigned to barracks. Barracks will be located at specific locations around the country behind triple wire fencing. Residents will be given jobs. Any who refuse to work are immediately kicked out of barracks and refused welfare.
Attendence at regularly scheduled lectures is mandatory. There will be weekly proctored testing of knowledge. A score of 70% is passing. Not obtaining a passing score for two consecutive weeks results in being kicked out and kicked off.

Guards and other supervising personnel will be selected from retired military or law enforcement. They will be armed with LTL firearms. Any personnel showing favortism, or engaging in any unlawful behavior will be immediately arrested and incarcerated for a period of no less than five years.

An alternative to the above is to gain lawful employment. Any form of fedgov welfare has an expiration of one year. One extension of six months may be granted.
Any of the several states found to use fedgov monies in unlawful practice will forgeit all fedgov monies, plus surrender 100% of fedgov monies of the previous years. Any person so engaging in said unlawful practices will be incarcerated for no less than twenty-five years, regardless of age, or condition of health, or status. No form of parole or early release is authorized. Their personal estate will be surrendered to pay all costs associated to their incarceration.

    So help me God
    God bless America

  8. What about elderly people who are staying because there social security benefits aren’t enough? What about the disabled veterans? God and everybody with two brain cells knows that the VA doesn’t pay enough to be worth destroying your body… And the venture capitalists have hollowed out the economy in this country. More than one company funded pension disappeared or was reneged on by the likes of Mittens Romney. This situation ain’t gonna get better until we start decorating lamp posts.
