The “Smart” car may have been pulled over for going to slow or obstructing traffic. It is possible to exceed the speed limit with them, but the cliff you drive off has to be high enough.

Turkeys can fly at around 50 mph. I was once(in the 90’s) driving a feed truck built in the 50’s . That heap would do around 45mph downhill tops. We had to coax it back from the dead every time we drove it. Usually took about 15 minutes for the starting procedure. We were cruising down the road at top speed, and a wild turkey was flying about 6 feet outside my window for a few seconds. If I had a yardstick in my hand, I could have touched him. He passed us with ease.

The healing the pierced ears one.
Having seen some of the more – shall we say – exotic body piercings that are relatively mainstream nowadays, I think the fluff would be blown out of the aliens belly button if he saw them.
