We did in fact wipe out Ring Around The Collar in the 80s only because Pfizer, the CDC & the WHO weren’t involved.

I retired from M&M/Mars end of 2011. Was in the Packaging group and we would test entire pallets of product to ensure it would survive the “distribution” process. Well… you could not put that product back out there for sales so… we would “dispose” of it (i.e. have a giveaway in-house” so the result was, yes, I would have FULL SIZE SINGLES to give out at Halloween.
Mind, you could not remove a single M&M without proper paperwork. My favorite “Removal authorization Slip” and “Reason for removal” one halloween?
“Salubrious comestibles for distribution to indigenous tatterdemalion”
And… once word got out that the guy on top of the hill was giving out FULL SIZE SINGLES…
To say I was OVER-RUN with the aforementioned tatterdemalion would be an understatement.
2nd year I had over 400 little devils, witches, etc. banging on my door. It was awesome.

boneman–Fabulous story! I’ll bet you were the most popular house within miles.
ckc–We did the flamethrower thing with bug spray once. Nasty smelling stuff but we survived with all digits intact.

Yeah… it was a huge place on top of the mountain in the Northern Poconos.
I had suspected a fair amount of corruption in the “Board” and about a year after I had moved out believe it or not it was FEDERAL authorities that stepped in pursuant to some SERIOUS “Election Fraud”
They seized EVERYTHING in the offices… It was quite the Kerfuffle!
