Thursday Meme Drop

  1. The whole CDC meme is made up and mostly incorrect

The US isn’t even in the top 20 for “Covid deaths per capita” .

Pretty much the entire thing is one lie after another.

It’s so easy to check before spreading disinformation, I just cannot figure out why people don’t bother to do so.

  2. B–I checked the expenditures numbers but did not fact check the whole thing. From a quick search on other items, like the one you mention, there is some incorrect information so I have removed that entry. Thanks for pointing it out.

    her favorite things about fall.”

    And that she’s also “Vegan”….

Thanks MWC, we especially need a laugh today.

  4. WDS–I wasn’t sure if I should pull the meme drop or not considering the day and what happened yesterday. If something helped lighten the load then I’m glad I left it up.

  5. 132 MB vs. 128 GB…

Back in college (Pleistocene era) my professor mentioned to the class that he had just bought himself a new, screamin’ fast hard drive for his x86 desktop. It held a ‘cavernous’ 1 GB. He expected to spend all weekend formatting it.

My first machine at Warlabs, Inc. boasted an 85 MB hard drive, 8 MHz speed and 4 MB of RAM. I analyzed radar data on that abacus.

    Jeez, I’m old.

  6. The only thing that you need to know about the CDC, is that they do NOT care about those they would “protect “. They are for sale to the highest bidder, or to whomever will best massage their psuedoscientific egos. The “experts” are not gods. They are people like you and me- no better. If something doesn’t seem right- you are never obligated to follow ANY advice from any “expert”. Oh- and Inigo Montoya never gets old.

  7. There is no such thing as “misinformation ” or “disinformation “. Those are labels created by those who abhor differences of opinion – control freaks. There is only information. Some is accurate- some not so much. Anytime I hear either of those words- I automatically think- get ready for it- here comes a load of sloppy putrid BS. Information stands on its own. If discredited, it evaporates. The truth can stand on its own in broad daylight, like a lion. It doesn’t have to sneak around in the shadows and shapeshift to avoid exposure the way lies do. Unfortunately, figures don’t lie, but liars do figure.

  9. Harbinger–It brings to mind a line in the book The Ninja by Lustbader. He accesses his ‘powerful’ 128K computer. And wow, you were really cooking with gas on that computer, weren’t you?? 😉

TRoy–Agreed, especially on Inigo Montoya. And the meme in question did have several bits of bad data. I don’t want to be that guy. It was a fair cop.

    Blueray–Really glad you liked!

  10. What’s the Darmok, Tangara meme?

    1. Mark D–It’s from Star Trek: TNG. The universal translator worked, but a new race only spoke in terms of metaphors (I do it myself, too often). Darmak and Jalad at Tanagra was the story used to bring understanding between the Federation and the Tamarians. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Tamarian_language

Probably more than you wanted/needed to know…..

  13. What’s hilarious, or I’m too old yet remember ST:TNG too well, is that even my Trekkie friend doesn’t get the Darmok-Jilad-Tenagra meme. Yet it made me cough up coffee through my nose. Thanks for the great one.
