C’mon DHS–it was cute once… only once

They must have a team working around the clock to try to find kitchy names for illegal detention centers.

Alligator Alcatraz, the Speedway Slammer, the Deportation Depot, and now the Cornhusker Clink.

Dudes, just stop. Please, for the love of all that is good. Let it go. They are detention centers, not theme parks.

Let me save you some time if you persist:

  • The Pennsylvania Pokey
  • The Colorado Calaboose
  • The Jersey Joint
  • The Nevada Nick
  • The Hoosier Hoosegow (if Florida can have two, then so can Indiana)
  • The Louisiana Lockup
  • The Rhode Island Roundhouse

    And seriously…reopening the actual Alcatraz? In addition to the possible escape, that place was closed because it was simply too expensive to operate. Suddenly it’s affordable? The absolute MOST DANGEROUS folks in this country infest the federal government, and a large subset of them need to be tried and executed for TREASON upon conviction.

    When I first heard of the name for the detention center in Florida, I thought they should have called it Alligatraz instead. 😁😁

    Way back in ancient days, before they were called the Cornhuskers, the Nebraska football team was called the Bugeaters. Maybe Nebraska could have gone with that, and fed bugs to the inmates staying at the detention center. Might make them happier to leave?

    This is part of the psychological warfare: they got more illegals to self deport than they could ever catch. Why? because no one wants to spend time at Guantanamo, Alligator Alcatraz, etc.

    To be honest…. This country went down the wrong road when we moved from an “Engineering” driven industry… to a “Marketing” driven model years ago.

    They should all have one name: Deportation Detention Dungeon

    And they should all be “Engineered” as such.

    But to paraphrase a quote from one of my favorite films… That’s just like, my OPINION, man!

    Boneman – at least marketing folks are about selling something that is produced, can be touched, etc. (yes, figuring out better ways to sell garbage rather than designing something good is not the right way to go). The REAL problem is when we became a FINANCIALIZATION nation. Companies spend almost as much time playing games with their money/investments as they do coming up with and producing better products. And millions do NOTHING but move money around and produce NOTHING.

    What Robert said. The psychological warfare aspect of the names is driving the self deportation process. Who wants to be interred in place called Alligator Alcatraz, knowing that if you try to escape, there’s a possibility you’ll be eaten.
