A small self-brag..

I try not to post anything personal, but am making an exception this evening. Our office had its annual retreat this week. As part of it, we did a SWOT analysis.

When brainstorming strengths, one of my co-workers said ‘Well, there’s a lot we’ve gotten done that we weren’t able to before Midwest Chick started.’ And it was seconded and thirded by other colleagues along with comments about my skillsets and how they are magic. And they referenced, not the position, but me specifically. So I’m an official office strength.

So I’m still feeling pretty good. I mean, I’m doing what I love and I love what I do and I’m working with a great group of people. But that made me feel pretty awesome.

  1. Congratulations. If your topics and insights are any indication of you being level headed, and possessing a healthy dose of common sense, then I’d have to agree that they are likely accurate and deserved compliments.

  5. Common sense and drive to do better would get you fired where I work. Hell, where I’ve WORKED.

For the record, Brawndo will be looking for another maintenance technicial here shortly.

  10. Well done! Now watch your back, because some folks get jealous and/or frightened, meaning they think you will take their job or they will be expected to emulate your success.

  13. Matthew W- sad how incompetence seems to be the norm of late. Where I used to work, I would occasionally have to do business outside of work. When the businesses I used did things right the first time- I was shocked and flabbergasted. When somebody does you right, that is an easy one to remember. I had work done on an old truck of mine. The mechanic called me with the diagnosis. He said “we can fix it, or if you want- you can”. I told him that I could handle that. When I went to pick it up- I asked how much I owed. He said nothing. I said “What!?”… well, here’s a 20 dollar tip anyway. Diagnosis is often the hardest part of mechanical work.
