Removing the linchpin of EPA tyranny

The new EPA chief just announced that the the EPA is moving to repeal the 2009 Endangerment Finding (Obama-era fuckery).

Zeldin revealed plans to rescind the 2009 Endangerment Finding during a speech at an Indianapolis auto dealership on Tuesday, promising to “end sixteen years of uncertainty for automakers and American consumers” with “the largest deregulatory announcement in US history.”

“In our work so far, many stakeholders have told me that the Obama and Biden EPAs twisted the law, ignored precedent, and warped science to achieve their preferred ends and stick American families with hundreds of billions of dollars in hidden taxes every single year,” said the former Long Island congressman.

Further

Stringent rules on power plants that stem from the Endangerment Finding have led to closures of coal facilities around the U.S. and weakened the electrical grid, spiking the risk of blackouts, experts have explained to the DCNF previously. After years of static electricity demand, the wave of power plant closures and the anticipation of new data centers has led to projections that the U.S. may be unable to meet its power needs in the near future, according to industry experts and a recent Department of Energy (DOE) report.

“We’re now at a point where we’re facing frequent blackouts… because there’s too much wind and solar in the system,” Myron Ebell, former director for the Center for Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute and leader of the Trump EPA transition team in 2016, told the DCNF. Ebell explained that energy technology like coal provides baseload power, and a heavy reliance on intermittent sources like wind and solar tanks the reliability of the electrical grid. He also noted that there is a correlation between high electricity costs and a strong dependence on resources like wind and solar.

Of course the lefties are screaming that this is going to ruin the environment blah blah blah. They’re the ones that think that wind power is environmentally friendly too so they can just walk in the direction of their choice until their hats float.

  1. I don’t see the screaming lefties turning off their a/c, phones, EVs, lights, etc to reduce load. Guess the environment isn’t all that important to them.

  3. Imagine how effd we’d if, in addition to all of the new data centers, they had forcibly retired ALL gas engine cars and trucks and replaced them ALL with EV’s.

Rolling blackouts? Hah. Try grid down forever.

Ever tried late 1800’s living where you have to get water from the well every day, cut wood to dry and split dried wood for the cook stove and use candles for light? Then there’s turning over earth BY HAND, planting and watering a large garden to provide vegetables for daily meals AND to put by for the three seasons when you can’t grow food and I’m only hitting the high points of basic necessities here.

It gets old after the third day and REAL old after seven. 99.9999% of people wouldn’t survive the fourth week.

    1. 4 weeks is outstandingly generous.

All of that, yes. Not enough wood stoves to go around so we’re talking firepits. Oh and a big southern exodus to warmer climes.

    1. LOL yeah. We know they meant fixed demand but a bunch out there would be thinking of rubbing balloons on their head.

I’m pretty sure that the earth would just keep spinning without our help. 😉

The inception of the EPA was well founded in common sense, nobody liked turds in their drinking water anymore… Enter the Carter administration and since for several decades its been a dysfunctional ideologues soapbox and consequential bludgeon on American society.

The removal of the “2009 Endangerment Finding” is good and welcome, but the list of capricious dictates from the EPA is long and burdensome. The EPA regularly exceeded its primary mandate through winsome regulations and inconsistent enforcement.

The agency has lost its way, like the education department it should be dissolved and closed as a federal agency.

    Nemo–They really have no clue.

    steves6–Agreed.

TRoy–Yep, because demand is never static.

    steves6–Ha! Well said!

Mark–I saw what you did there!

cri–Agree. When they started calling ditches ‘navigable waterways’ you know they lost the plot.

I’ve been hearing about this for months, along with talk about repealing the CAFE standards, and I’m still waiting. I even got a little bit excited thinking about my new 2026 Ranchero.
I love the new administration, but they really need a Department of Managing Expectations.
