A gross of EPA administrators got put on leave because they decided that they needed to use their titles when signing a partisan letter. Because just being US citizens wasn’t enough or didn’t lend them enough gravitas.
The specific violation in question had to do with a letter that featured signatures by current and former EPA employees, along with 207 anonymous figures and former Democrat political appointees, was sent, accusing Zeldin of violating the Hatch Act.
This alleged violation was perpetrated by the official discussing the tariffs in the One Big Beautiful Bill. However, similar actions were taken by Democratic Administrator Michael Regan when he promoted the Inflation Reduction Act.
What they did was just stupid. When using a title, then whatever you are stating then becomes a quasi-official document and, by inference, also becomes a stance by an agency or institution.
That’s why my blog clearly states that any opinions are mine and do not represent those of any institution or employer, present or past. And I don’t name my employer or my title.
They should be fired.
