Removing federal funding from riot instigators

This is a piece of legislation that it far overdue.

In response to what we’ve seen recently in Los Angeles and other cities, Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) announced that he’s developing legislation targeting rioters and the people who fund them.

Kiley says that one piece of legislation would make NGOs involved in organizing unlawful riots ineligible for federal funding or tax-exempt status, and another would increase penalties for disrupting federal immigration and law enforcement operations and assaulting federal officers. In a press release, Kiley noted that the current penalty for assaulting a federal officer is only one year.

Because taxpayer money (our money) is going to these organizations who then use it to destroy our cities and the rule of law. This would also remove the tax-exempt status of unions, like the American Federal of Teachers or SEIU if they engage in fuckery. It’s not like they’re hiding anymore and forensic accounting is getting a lot more sophisticated.

    It’s one thing to introduce legislation (sounds good to the voters), it’s quite another to get it passed and implemented.

    Not disagreeing one needs to start somewhere, but doubtful any such would go anywhere – the rot is deep. What does one do when gangrene sets in? In govt, we have yet another “investigation”.

    There are likely enough laws already long since established that would see the rioters hemmed up for a long time and punished severely….but nobody with the power and duty will investigate, charge, arrest, try, convict and inflict. Oh, except on those that complain of the injustice of our time, or defend themselves and others. Soon, attempting to flee will be a crime, as though there are many places to flee to, where they won’t come a-hunting. Utopia, it’s compulsory!

    We organized a peaceful protest but those bad people took it as an opportunity to riot. Not our fault.

    Tough to prove guilt without evidence of the conspiracy.

    1) Why do NGOs exist in the first place? What is it an NGO does that cannot be done within a standard private enterprise or privately-charitable-funded organization?

    1b) If people want to create and operate an NGO for Purpose X, what justification exists that taxpayer funds of any type or amount be used to support or operate an NGO?

    1c) If an NGO exists, and receives no government funds of any type or amount, what is the justification for an NGO being tax exempt?

    1d) If an NGO exists, and receives no government funds of any type or amount, and is not tax exempt, what justification exists for tax deductibility for private funds given to NGOs?

    Vacuous pandering for the proles.

    If NGO funding, fomenting and supporting riots, rampage and looting are illegal; then engage the indictments and charge the organization leaders with aiding and abetting of aggravated assault, arson, domestic violence, looting, etc.

    Which will never happen in a Blue State, Blue city. Nice try Kevin Kiley.

    The USA does not need more laws, it requires application of equal justice to function as a viable country.

    Stefan–There’s definitely a double standard.

    Gerry–And there’s the fly in the ointment.

    Oliver–NGOs and Public Private Partnerships I believe were created for grift and for the government to get around the laws and rules. They all need to go, along with grants to foreign companies and people to do business here.
